Why do people like to eat ice cream to relieve themselves from the heat of the sun?

Humans don't usually like to be overly hot or cold, so we do what's necessary to fit ours wants/needs. So if we're cold, we turn on a heater, curl up in a blanket, or drink a hot beverage. If we're hot, we turn a fan/air conditioner on, strip unneeded clothing (jacket, coat), or eat ice cream.

Because it's a social event. Gives them something to do in their boring little lives. OOOOoooo lets go get ice cream. Doesn't cool you off, just makes you hotter because the dairy fat makes you fatter which makes you hotter. Not to mention dairy takes calcium OUT of your bones. Did you know that ? Probably not.

cause its a cold substance, the complete opposite of heat. Its like taking a really cold shower when you are hot, well in the sense the throat is probably overly dry.

When humans take a break, they mostly want SUGAR. But actually ice cream is very caloric - so it just adds more heat to the system if you're already hot. Probably not a great choice.

It tastes so good on a hot day and a way to cool off that is enjoyable.
