No sound, no headphones or speakers showing and nothing listed in device manager.?

Recently my computer has been having some issues with crashing. I ve been tinkering around with the components because it was crashing as a result of a fault somewhere. It starts now but all of the sudden I have no audio at all. The speaker icon on the taskbar is muted and when I enter my playback devices all that is listed are 4 nvidia HDMI outputs that cant be accessed. I used to have the realtek audio manager which has disappeared as well. I have tried running the trouble shooter, I have tried searching for new components in the device manager and I have redownloaded the exact realtek drivers that came with my Asus mobo from the disk that came with the mobo. Nothing has resulted in any progress.

When did it start? You could have a virus and it may have corrupted your audio drivers and deleted some software. Run a scan and if a virus is found and removed, uninstall and then re-install the drivers and missing software. In most cases your computer will re-install the missing drivers automatically. Your anti-virus should have a boot scan, I would recommend doing that.

@Alex, most viruses will corrupt the system restore files to prevent you from restoring to an earlier date. It's a defense mechanism that many viruses have in place today.

Run a virus scan, then run a chkdsk. If it doesn't show up then you might have to reinstall your OS or Restore it to an earlier time.
