can tornadoes actually skip over valleys?

Update:

this has always intrigued me I know its superstition but I want to know if it can actually happen

    Tornadoes can skip over valleys but it has nothing to do with the valley itself.

    Weaker tornadoes are often observed retreating from contact with the ground only to resume their ground track farther downstream.

    Tornadoes do weird things, but this isn't likely to happen, at least not for normal shaped valleys
