Intermittent sound loss through Yamaha home sound system?

Ok so I have a Yamaha 7.1 sound system used mostly for movies via an LG DVD rec with dual tuners which in turn uses an Epsom projector, the sound is awesome for movies and never had a drama with it but sometimes when the sound system is used for music (digital through the LG s built in media player which is the same we we watch movies) the sound intermittently drops out? Usually just for a second or so then comes back usually a few times per song.

I thought it may be because I had the music too loud so turned the volume down and it didn t change immediately but did notice after some time it seemed to settle down.

The system came as a package with front floor standing speakers and the rest are bookshelf the only thing I changed when I installed it was better good quality speaker wire.

Any ideas why the sound drops out only with music?

Cheers

Update:

The music was playing for a couple of hours when it started

The music is on a hard drive plugged into the LG' DVD media player (HR936T) format is MP3 from the lg to the Yamaha is HDMI, the "tuners" I "envision" on the DVD rec are TV tuners so one channel can be watched while recording another.

The Yamaha system model no is YHT-894AU receiver is RX-V567.

As said earlier it works fine for all formats when watching movies from the same Toshiba Hard drive using the same equipment and cables just happens occasionally only when listening to music.

How are you listening to music??? Is the music on CD ??? Is the CD a burned copy or an original ... are they Mp3 files using a USB Pin drive attached ??? Are you streaming music files from a computer or hard drive???? What format are they in WAV MP3 FLAC ??? what type of connection are you using between the DVD player and the Yamaha receiver Optical RCA stereo HDMI ???? Not enough information to answer the question....

Without knowing the models of the gear concerned, this cannot be answered.

Imagine that you came to a garage and gave a brief description of a car problem, and your only description of what car you had was it's brand name, but not a model or a year. No mechanic could work with that, either.

" LG DVD rec with dual tuners" What? what kind of "tuners" do you envision would be on a DVD player? Are you trying to say your DVD player can also accept USB drives? It depends on what you have on the usb drive, whether it can be played or not. Visit the LG site, get the details you need.
