who was the first sprinter to bulk up his upper body.?

the whole idea behind the "faster you get your arms pumping the faster your legs go."

i was talking to a friend and ben johnson was who we came up with. hines wasn't, hayes wasn't. regardless of steroids, who started the whole concept of upper body strength training.

    Johnson certainly was not the first sprinter to bulk up, and no matter how fast you move your arms it is impossible to move your legs at the same rate or speed.

    The concept of strength training is not new and did not just begin with Johnson or Hayes.
