I own a first generation PCI X-FI sound blaster, sound card with all gold connectors. This thing is over ten years old but still sounds really good. My new Gigabyte motherboard states that it has outstanding built in sound but can this this built in sound still sound better than my old sound card? This old card was designed for gaming with built in RAM for speed. In your opinions should I add the sound card or has built in sound gotten good enough to skip this add on? Thanks

People might disagree with me but i found these onbroad sound systems even the 7.1 surround sound is not that good is why i went over to creative labs x-fi sound card also asus xonar are good sound cards as well so a good dedicated sound card is better

Most newer mobos can produce cd quality sound on their own. A good sound card may may be slightly superior, but then I have to assume you have high end speakers or headphones to hear the difference.
