Any ideas on what is wrong with the A/C in my truck?
2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS 2-wheel drive
My A/C blows cold air for about 5-10 minutes. Then it blows warm air. It is the same temp (warm-hot) on both sides of the truck and it never cools off again. Turning the truck off for a while makes the air cold again, but it goes warm after 5-10 minutes.
I thought it might be the A/C clutch, but didn't want to just start replacing parts on a whim, and I don't really want to pay the money to have it looked at right now since it is just an inconvenience and not a safety issue.
A side note: there is a clicking noise that has been happening when I have the air on. It "revs" loudly as the engine revs. The "revving" noise stop when I turn the air off.

Due to wearing of the clutch plate, the air gap has grown and the clutch can no longer engage in the heat of the day. I'll bet it works fine at night or early morning? Google "A/C specialist says clutch air gap too much" and read the forum thread. Ford did something on their trucks to allow shims to be added to the compressor clutch to tighten the clutch plate clearance, it seems like with GMs you need to have the clutch removed and a thick spacer replaced with a thinner one on the re-install. This cost the guy on the forum $175 4 years ago. No need to replace the compressor, or even evacuate refrigerant.

Check if the noise is coming from the AC compressor. Also make sure you have enough freon and not too much.
Also check is the belt is not slipping or if the compressor is not locking up.
