Thoughts on Canadian Space Agency (CSA)?

I was just thinking that so many countries are ahead of Canadian in terms of space exploration. Yes, we have build a gigantic robotic arm, created the first communication satellite and some other projects. However, as compared to agency's like NASA, ESA, even China and India. In fact China has landed rovers on the moon and India has sent an orbiter to mars. Canada is capable of doing these kinds of things too but why isn't the CSA taking any steps forwards. How long will we contribute to projects that other agency's are organizing and how long will we be proud of a 15m long robotic arm. Do you agree that the CSA needs to wake up and needs to get real space exploration underway?

Actually, the CSA has a number of astronauts that have flown, and have made more than minor contributions to NASA and ESA... No, they don't have their own launching system, but why do they need one? Both ESA and NASA's facilities work fine - and participate in many major projects.

Honestly... I'd like to see more countries contribute to a single focus of exploration - rather than trying to compete with each other. You get further as a team when you can focus resources and energy at one problem, than if you have each person trying to tackle the same problem alone, on their own...

Canada's doing it right; they're involved and proactive. More power to 'em.

we participate in international stuff, including iss and esa. this is the way forward: a group of countries collaborating can do things no one country could do on their own. this is good.

later: space is expensive, and we (canada) can't afford an independent launch capability. we have an excellent aerospace sector (including companies like bombardier and pratt & whitney canada), were pioneers in satellite communications, and make important contributions to iss, esa, cern, and many other international collaborations. we do things, and we do them well. if that's not good enough for you, what is?

what party are you running for in the october 2015 election? if you don't like canadian science policy, stand for election and change it. at the very least, make your views known to your mp.
