Why do so many people ask questions 'here' that are indecipherable?

Any sane person would realize that you are far more likely to get a useful answer if your question is clear. It also helps if a question is put in a relevant category.

The problem in many cases is that the person types their question the same way they would verbally ask their friends. They assume we already know them and the subject they are talking about. The education system is lacking in how to do written communications.

In other cases, it is a person whose English is not their first language. Those are usually obvious and we should give them a break.

I suspect English as a second language accounts for many of these instances. Many participants on here are also victims of an educational system that has failed to teach them proper English even if it is their native tongue. There are some cultural barriers to phrasing questions too. And there are some people on here from all areas under the Bell curve when it comes to intelligence.

If I can deduce a probable question within a posting, I try to answer it. If I can't -- and it's not just plain "gbgbgbgbfb" gibberish -- I'll pass it by, because maybe someone else CAN figure out the question. I think that reporting questions merely for not being in the "proper form" is one of the more elitist reports certain elements of the Site Police tend to make.
