So I turned on my laptop which is a dell xps 15z and is about 4 years old and all the colors are messed up. It is all rainbow colors now?

Update:

I haven't dropped it really other my normal carrying it in my backpack and tossing it into the passengers seat of the car. The screen has flickering lines across it and when I reboot it nothing changes and the screen sometimes looks like it has cracks on it but it is not cracked or damaged that I can see.

Either the sceen is physically broken, or there's a problem with the graphics adapter or the internal cables.

Dell has a test, it's probably called Display BIST, launch the test (by pressing the appropriate key during a startup, is should show press X for diagnostics, options etc), it will display colored bands, check if the issue is present here as well. If yes, press the key to fail the test and record the fault code in a paper.

Call up Dell tech support helpline, give them your service tag, and the fault code.

They will either send you a tech, or arrange for a pickup.

Don't give it to unauthorized people, if it's made by Dell, you should always take it to Dell for repairs.

Unauthorized people might do a good job, but there's no way for you to tell which tech is good and who's a moron. With official Dell support, you can always trust the brand.

If the notebook is not in warranty, you'll need to pay to fix it.
