Hearsay generally isnt allowed in court. Does this apply to civil cases/trials as well?

or are the rules different for criminal and civil cases?

    The main reason hearsay isn't permitted in criminal cases is due to the confront clause in the 6th Amendment, so the situations where it's allowed in criminal cases is very restricted. Evidence in civil cases don't have as much of a burden on it. While it's not totally permitted, the courts have a much wider latitude in whether or not it's allowed.

    The rules ARE different, very different. However, not regarding hearsay. It is not allowed in civil court either. That is because he said/she said is a pile of nonsense.
