Will my high school football team mates hate me if I'm not that good?
I'm going to become a junior and I just moved to a new state. I'm going to join football (I played my freshman year couldn't play sophomore year) but I'm not that good. Will all my team mates hate me for not being athletic? Any advice? Note. I am working to be faster and stronger. Also I can't do football summer workouts because I don't know what city/county I'm going to be in...

Hello, my name is Fletcher and I am a former all-county football player. I'm hoping my experiences on and off the field can serve as guidance for your pending question. I was a decorated all-county football player and I didn't hate my teammates, whether they were good or bad. In fact, I used to mentor and train the bad players so it improved the team. I would spend up to 40 hours a week tutoring our bad players during film sessions and training them in the weight room. Being an all-county player has its responsibilities.

No, your teammates will not hate you for not being athletic. They will care more about your work ethic during practice.
My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) summer is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch wide receiver in high school football, who could go on to play college football.
By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your junior, and especially senior, year of high school. If you perform very well in football during your final 2 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

football has harder hits, but rugby is tougher as for your comparison, can ladanian play every down of the game? could he tackle someone bigger than him if they came thundering towards him at full speed? could he make a 50 yd kick? thought not. and you call him the better all round athlete?????????? who is showing bias now?!?!? football is more rote; learn the play, do it. rugby is far more cerebral. dan carters clever little kicks are about reading the defense and exploiting the gaps. going six times in one direction to load up the defense, then switching sides. passing every time the throwing a dummy pass. you could say football is like cramming a lot of data for a thorough test, while rugby is like actual intelligence; being able to formulate a solution given a set of data without just learning the answer. i think the real problem is that too many football fans have no clue about rugby.

They shouldn't hate you. We had one or two new guys come in every year I played and we accepted them right away.
