japanese honorifics?

do people use honorifics in japan alot? im trying to lean japanese so i want to know how important it is to use honorifics.

    im 99% sure it's important...many asian countries such as korea, vietnam, and china etc all have honorifics just like japanese. which means the word ''i'' and ''you'' have very harsh meaning and sound to it so they use words like ''sister'' '' brother'' etc to refer to different people accordingly - to age and sex. and you cant refer to your self as just ''i'' either, you have to change it up a bit depending on who you talk to, thats why theres so many versions of ''you'' and ''i'' in these asian languages but when translated they just mean i and you in english
