Citizen Law: what disqualifies a person from becoming a United States citizen?

I have been leaving with a friend of mine for the last 6 years. We have managed apartments together. He currently owns his own tax business. However, he told me yesterday that he ca not get his real estate license. He said cause he not a United States citizen. He has been in the United States for the last 17 years. I said he should get his Citizen. He said he can t cause he does not qualify? He would not tell me why he does not qualify. So I am asking what makes one not qualify?

He may own the business that HIRES the tax accountants, without actually doing tax work himself. That's the only way I can see he could do business without being a citizen.

Any time you are thinking of getting involved in any legal agreement, it is important for you to understand who you are getting involved with. This guy won't tell you the full truth- so don't sign anything with him. If I were you, I'd move somewhere else and get new friends. This isn't anyone you want to be close to. Something isn't right about him, and that's really all you need to know.

The only ways in which he does not qualify are either because he is illegal or because he has a criminal conviction that would bar him from citizenship. I would think the former is more likely. His 'tax business' is not real if he is in the US illegally.
