Ryan Harris retires?

So Harris' knee issues have worsened and forced his retirement. How big a blow do you think this will be for the Aussies or is the attack still capable enough to cause problems for the Poms?

Thanks for your efforts Rhino, a quality pacemen...Cook will be relieved.

Unfortunate that he's going to miss out on an historic Australian away Ashes win, but Helen Keller could have seen this coming.

Keep an eye on Nat Lyon. I've said it before, but he'll bring home at least two tests on days four and five.

First casualty for the Poms will be Moeen Ali, but not until they have lost the series (ECB standard operating procedure). Poor old Cookie will be lucky not to end up in the tower when it's all done and dusted. Nice bloke, did I mention that before?

Ryan Harris & Peter Siddle used to be stock bowlers, bowling at one drop after the hot tearaway pace of Hazelwood, Stark & Watson. However like HDB said, it'll be a blow to the Aussies as there aren't any change of pace, reverse swing exponents like Ryan anymore more so on a 3 day or a 4 day pitch when the outcome of matches are decided. Besides Ryan was a decent bat also. Unsure what the Poms make of this or how they can exploit this weakness

Harris may have played only 27 tests but he is among the top 10 aussie bowlers

Its a big surprise but Australia has some great fast bowlers in their ranks & they will simply fulfil his place like he was never there before.

But his controlled aggression & great variations used to bring more wickets than other fast bowlers. Perhaps Watson, if fit, might get more workload now.

He was supposed to have a knee operation that would have ended his career last Summer. I am surprised he was even in the squad, unless this was planned as his farewell tour anyway.

All the best for your future Rhino.

He is the first to retire this Ashes but he won't be the last. The Aussies will be dropping like flies this summer.

EDIT: Remember I predicted Harris getting injured and retiring this Ashes. I was slightly wrong when I predicted it would happen in the first Test though but I was close. I tried to warn you all, I think most of my predictions are going to come true.

I remember predicting this during last India vs Australia test series. Too bad I am very bad at finding that question link.
