How do I solve x+2tanx = pi/2 (pi/2 is angle in radian for 90) using graphical method?? There are 63 or 64 solns for the value of x.?

The ans is 64 solutions, i need to know how to get it. I havent understood graphical method at all.

    The equation is equivalent to 2tanx=pi/2 - x.

    Plot the graph of y=2tanx (x in radian measure),

    and y=pi/2 - x , straight line slope -1, intercept

    3.142/2=1.57.

    You want the values of x where the graphs intersect.

    How do you figure there are only 64 solutions?

    Asking a graphing calculator to draw you a pretty but pixelated picture, so that you can guess from looking, is not a valid solution method... and any teacher teaching it is a piss poor teacher that stays away from those pesky "hard concepts" students struggle the most with.
