Why do people think that witchcraft is evil and of Satan?

It's a view that is rooted in the Abrahamic religions.

According to the traditional Christian point of view, there are only two sources of supernatural power in this world: God and Satan. The Bible forbids witchcraft and calls it sinful, yet it also implies that witchcraft can "work". For example, Pharaoh's magicians were supposedly able to replicate some of Moses' miracles in the Exodus narrative.

As a result, Christians who base their view of witchcraft solely upon the Bible and Christian tradition conclude that the power behind witchcraft must be Satan, because it cannot be of God if the Bible speaks of it as evil.

Of course, those of us who do not follow an Abrahamic religion have no reason to stereotype witchcraft as "evil and of Satan." (:

Because witchcraft originates from the ancient pagan religions that the christian sought out to eliminate via the crusades and the inquisition

All true spirituality and witchcraft is of Satan.

It's just a matter of time before the darkside of what you're into will reveal itself. You are in the gingerbread house so to speak. Basically it looks harmless but it slowly sucks you into deeper and deeper waters. You can get what you want but not how you want it and it won't be worth having. Also your spells will work on anybody EXCEPT Christians.

Well witchcraft can be of Satan if you so wish it to be. Not all witches are neopagans/Wiccans.
