Breastfeeding and not losing weight ⒽⒺⓁⓅ ⓂⒺ!?

ⓑⓐⓑⓨ is 3 months old and EBF. Already doubled his birth weight. I lost 30 of the 50 lbs I gained in the first 2 months. It's been a month and I've been counting calories and working out for close to 2 weeks. The scale doesn't move. What gives ?!?

Stop counting calories and eat. Have sensible meals with fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, and lots of fluid. Eat when you are hungry. Stop when you are full. Get some exercise with baby. Take a walk, carry baby with you a lot. The first part of the weight loss literally falls off of you - it is baby, placenta, blood volume, fluid build up, etc. It can come off in days or weeks. The fat loss is designed to take a bit longer, to sustain your baby. Counting calories and stressing about it can backfire. If you reduce your calorie intake too much, you can cause your body to start conserving resources, which means that your metabolism will slow and you will burn fewer calories so that your body can direct available energy to milk production. Just relax, eat sensibly, and move. The weight will come off in time.

Congratulations on losing what you already have! That's great progress. It's hard to say why it's stopped. Just keep breastfeeding, eating healthy, and working out and it will eventually work it's way off. Good luck hun!

It'll take time, but you're doing the right things. Remember, it took you 9 months to put that weight on. 30 pounds lost in 3 months is a big accomplishment, just keep working at it.

Not everyone looses weight in the same way. The biggest thing is to eat healthy and stay hydrated.
