Tricky question, given how the U.K. papers reported her for foul language and a bad temper. On the other hand, after she won the women's trophy at Wimbledon on Saturday, the first thing she did on camera was to give thanks to Jehovah for her victory. Perhaps the Governing Body are able to turn a blind eye to everything else because of the publicity.
However, no other Jehovah's Witness would be allowed to devote their life to their career, or to miss meetings and not take part in the "field ministry" work. Also, no female Jehovah's Witnesses would dare to be seen in public showing so much cleavage and leg. But perhaps it's okay when you are playing tennis? It gets very hot on center court at Wimbledon in the summer.
Perhaps Serena is the exception that disproves the rule (thereby destroying it). And let's not forget her sister, Venus, and their parents who also appear to have dedicated their lives to tennis. I doubt the Governing Body would want other Witnesses to follow their example, though.

Williams claims she is one of Jehovah's witnesses, but that is really up to her and god. I would say its not exactly a leading example, but I am personally glad when someone is a witness and makes it known.

Not to JW. Serena has set a good example of a tennis player who groans like a lion in the court and strikes like a gladiator.

She's roided out. I don't see how that is a good example of a human being.
