What do you feed your OTTB?
I am purchasing an 8 year old OTTB and she will have hay 24/7 but was wondering what grain (if any) do you use to help keep weight on them?

If her weight is fairly okay then don't bother feeding her. I'm British so I'm not sure if you will have what I say, you can use Alfa beef and some chaff and some kind of cool cubes or cool mix. There is also this kind of liquid you can use I can't quite remember the name but it has coconut in it that can be used as the liquid, put chaff in it, garlic powder and pepper. If you were going to feed your horse I recommend that as it is good for them!

I like "smart carb", which has no corn, 10% fat, 12% protein and very little sugar. My ottb stays well filled out on 1 1/2 qts am and 1 1/2 qts pm, plus lush grass 12 hours a day, and 2 flakes timothy during the day. In the winter all these rations double and the hay triples, plus he gets a round bale in his field. Any kind of corn will make these ottbs hot as a firecracker. More fat, less sugar. PS. She looks like a very nice mare, that could use a few pounds...and I like her eye.

I agree with partly cloudy just whatever you do, don't switch up their feed too often.
