Why are writers such haters? If you write poorly they treat you bad. If you write well they treat you worse.?

Just because some people have been blunt or a bit overly critical does not make writers haters. If someone posts an unedited piece of work online that is poorly written, they're not going to receive the praise they think they deserve. That doesn't mean they're being treated badly. It just means they're getting a dose of the real world and sometimes it's not worded kindly. That's the risk anyone takes when they post online.

I've never seen an instance where someone wrote well and got treated poorly. If you're speaking from personal experience, perhaps the writing wasn't as good as you had hoped. If not personal experience, then it could just be a difference of opinion where you thought the writing was decent whereas another thought it terrible.

I'd really not lump all writers together as if they're a collective. Plenty of writers are fantastic critiquers who have never treated a writer poorly. Also, I'd try not to confuse a writer picking apart a piece of work as picking on the writer themselves. Sure I have seen comments on here directed to the writer themselves (which I personally find rude) but if a writer is pointing out mistakes in the writing, they aren't treating the writer poorly, they're helping.

Its tough love! They can;t say your work is perfect because its such a hard craft... You need to know your strengths and weaknesses. If they tell you there's nothing wrong with it. Then you wont learn how to become a better writer... Writing a book is not as easy as it looks. Some people just throw stuff together and send it in thinking they will get money. But you have to put in effort. I hope this help! :)

I've never pointed out a flaw to a writer's work, to which I DIDN'T offer a fix. That said, it is hard to "be kind" to someone who thinks they can become a bestselling author, when anyone can tell they're struggling to make it out of the Ninth Grade.

Consider for a moment that fateful day when they actually submit their work to an agent or publisher. Agents and publishers do NOT critique or offer changes on manuscripts they haven't already accepted! They just send a very polite rejection slip stating the submission doesn't meet their current needs, and keep up the "good" work.

No, if you write poorly, they treat you BADLY. Especially is you don't know your adverbs from your adjectives. This is because the world is so full of people who can't even form a lucid sentence but think they can be millionaire authors. It gets worse when they start asking you what should go in the book to make it a best seller, or when they want to known what name is right for a brown eyed lawyer with an overbite who is a really good person deep down once you get to know him.

It's not just writers. Any time someone becomes an "expert" or well learned in an art or field, they become overly critical and cannot help but notice flaws or inferior work.

I know cars really well. I notice the littlest things that are off: low tire pressure, engine sounds, smells.... Do you think doctors look and a bad stick and say, "...well at least that doctor tried to do a good job."

Having said that, yes, bad grammar drives me crazy, and I will point it out if I see it.

In my opinion, writing eventually leads to perfectionism, making most writers perfectionists. I will not lie that I am too a perfectionist. Writers can be haters sometimes because they think they're work is the best or they're just jealous. If you do write poorly, some writers will over exaggerate and try to help you. However, others are very rude and arrogant.

    I hope my answer helps!(:

Don't dwell in that. Writing has no boundaries. Just write to your heart's content. Critics critic because they have felt satisfied with what they already have in their boxes yet outside the boxes is infinity.

If you call harsh criticism of your writing when it's deserved "hate" then maybe you shouldn't write.

I try to treat everyone well, even the kids I personally mentor and meet in coffee shops when they show up not doing what I suggested and instead just did more worldbuilding. This may come as a surprise to you, but writers don't have to help out hopeful writers. If we do help, take it gratefully.

Writers are not "HATERS", we tend to be blunt. They also tend to be very critical of themselves more that others. They also know the disappointment and heart break that many young writer endure because there are more and more writers few of whom every get a manuscript to a publisher let alone get one published.
