Shepherd for a boy?

What does everyone think of the boy name Shepherd "Shep"? I just stumbled across it and it's growing on me. Just wanted to know your opinion!

    I love the name ‘Shepherd'. It's cute and something that isn't used that often. I didn't like ‘Shep' at first but then it began to grow on me and now, it doesn't bother me.

    I've always liked it. Unfortunately people will shorten it to 'Shep' and that sounds like a delayed street sweeper to me.
