Question about annual exams?
Hello,
I found a walk-in clinic located in a marc's store. They have a 5 star rating on Google and on their website, they have reviews from very satisfied patients. They are open evenings and weekends and are known to be very quick while still being thorough. Many patients reported in their reviews that they did not have to wait at all whereas the after hours family medicine practice near my home is very slow and make patients wait half an hour past their appointment time. I called the walk-in clinic and they do annual physicals for $65 without insurance, but they take insurance as well. It is just a basic exam, so a gyn exam is not included, but they said that they will probably offer that very soon. Bloodwork is optional, but available on site. Therefore, I was wondering if it would be worth the money to get the physical done there since it is a basic exam. Also, since I am 25, do I need to have bloodwork or can I skip this for now? If so, will I need to fast? Finally, since I am not having any problems, can I hold off on the gyn exam as well? I work during the day, so I cannot go during the day.

So what do they actually do for an annual exam? Where I live, my annual exam exist of blood work, urinalysis, a pap test, chest x-ray, taking my blood pressure and weighing me. She also listens to my heart and feels of my abdomen. If I have any complaints or problems, she sends me for tests for that. She also renews my prescriptions.
However, I am older now and do not get pap tests anymore.
If you decide to get blood tests done, avoid fatty or fried foods for your supper the night before and do not eat after 7 pm. You can call them and ask what their requirements are for blood tests, and whether you should fast.
