The San Antonio Spurs and the 2016 NBA Championship?

I believe that San Antonio winning this championship with Lebron losing another Finals match up again the Spurs is a formality at this point. GSW won't be defending that title. They are pretty much bringing back the same core San Antonio has been piecing out since 2013. Their days as Champions are numbered. Houston is an inferior version of what GSW does on the court. They made very little changes as well and I won't be expecting them to be a team that opens the 1st round of the playoffs with Homecourt. Whatever problems San Antonio had with matching up with the Memphis Grizzlies has effectively been resolved with the signings of Aldridge and West. A serious upgrade when comparing Duncan being forced to rely on the mentally weak Splitter. The match up just got even tougher for the Clippers, who needed 7 games to beat the Spurs. They stayed the same while we upgraded. Dallas will still be trash and most likely miss the playoffs or sneak in as an 8th seed. Pelicans will still be too raw to make any serious type of push in the playoffs. Portland has been wiped off the map without even needing to see a game played. There is only one team that I will be worried about, and that is the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant and Westbrook will be back, together and healthy, ready to destroy any team that attempts to stand in their way. At full strength, they will be a nightmare matchup for any team in the league.

I am going with San Antonio or OKC in the West..Cleveland will win the East again, that is a done deal for me.

The Spurs have the best overall team in the Western Conference and as you already explained most contenders like Houston, the Clippers or Portland have either stagnated or taken steps back while San Antonio managed to upgrade their excellent roster even further. However OKC has a good chance at beating them, if Durant and Westbrick have 4 awesome games I will say thats it for for the Spurs...they are my favorites for next year but OKC is that one team that can beat them as things are looking now.

I would say the Cavs are the favorites. They have LeBron, and let's not forget a man named Kyrie Irving who dropped 57 points against your spurs. Cleveland has everything. They have shooters, they have defense, and they have 2 playmakers and are looking to add another one. They have LeBron friggin James too, who is coming back stronger than last year. The Cavs went 33-3 with LeBron, JR, Kevin, Kyrie, and Mozgov in the lineup together.

The Spurs lost some key pieces like Belinelli, one of the best spot up shooters in the league, and Cory Joseph. Ginobili was also epically awful last year, and they lost Splitter, a solid player. Obviously they got Aldridge who is a big addition, but they will have to work him into the system and that will take time. The Spurs should be favorites in the west, but remember the Cavs were basically flawless when they were healthy last year. The Spurs still have an up and down Tony Parker, and Duncan is not getting any better, (even though he hasn't gotten much worse)

The Spurs will never make it the NBA finals with a healthy squad. I can see parker, ginoboli, and duncan being way less than a 100% once the post season gets here. You need a healthy tony parker for the spurs to get to the finals. I just don't see him being healthy enough just like last year. But if they are healthy than they have the best chance to win it all.

I would say Spurs are favorite since they have Duncan, Aldridge and other big players too. But as a LeBron fan, I personally want to see LeBron win his 3rd ring for 2016 NBA season.
