How can you create something out of nothing?

The books say there was nothing, then *POOF* there is suddenly a universe. There was no Earth and no sun, but *POOF* they appeared out of nothing too. And we are to believe that life just magically appeared out of mud and dust?

Atheists and Christians are always arguing about the origin of life and the origin of the universe. But it doesn't make sense to believe that something can come from nothing, so why do they insist on arguing about it?

I appreciate that you tried to phrase the question to describe both creationist and atheist opinions.

It is indeed counter to our ordinary experience that something can come from nothing. That's why every theory involves there being *something else* instead of actually nothing, The argument is over how ridiculous each something else is.

The "god" theory has the flaw that consciousness is a trait that evolved in the material universe; something outside the universe is no more likely to be intelligent than to be made of butter.

The "virtual particles" theory has the flaw that virtual particles don't act like real particles and they only appear in pairs that soon annihilate each other.

And of course every non-nothing we propose, whether it's a designer or vacuum energy, had to itself come from nothing.

That's why I like the "there was never nothing" theory. Maybe the universe alternates contraction and expansion phases. Maybe time started "when" space did. Maybe the big bang was our universe budding off from a parent universe that we don't yet have the tools to observe.

Ultimately, argument is necessary to push science forward. We criticize all of the theories, update them, and collect more data, until we have a single explanation that no one can find a flaw in.

There are quantum evidence that may prove that to be true. Apparently pockets of energy simply leap into existence from nothing. I have to apologize as I don't know much more about that, will have to do some research. but I do remember coming across it.

Where did the something come from? Are you telling me it has existed forever? That means time has always existed. However, if we have an infinite past, then that means it would take an infinite amount of time to reach this point in time. We would never reach this point in time. That means time has not always existed. Who created time?

I read a book that said man was made out of dirt, and women out of a bone.

I know, that's stupid as hell, you can't believe everything you read.

Actually, things pop into and out of existence all the time. "Nothingness" is unstable and therefore can't exist.

That happens if you doze off during the process of it happening and wake up after its done.

You don't create something out of nothing. First you come up with a concept of what to create. Of course you are not God, who is all knowing, so He did not have to come up with the concept as the concepts of the eternal mind are as eternal as the eternal mind.

    Luke 14

28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

    Genesis 1

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

    Hebrews 4

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

    Genesis 1

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

    John 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

    1 Samuel 3

7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him.

21 And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh: for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the Lord.

How do your thoughts transcend your own mind? In what ways are you able to share your thoughts with others? We are made in His image. How do you think and how do you create?

God can. All that exists was God who created.

From the nothingness within an atheist's brain often comes hatred and nonsense.

when did that happen? when god was created?
