Xeon is not overclockable or at least not as friendly as an intel i7. Xeons are made for server type computers and are not to be meant for gaming. Sure people have gamed on a Xeon, but why spend all that money on a slightly better or worse performance than an I7 would give you.

performance is pretty much the same. i would go with the i7. allows for overclocking. i don't really see anything in the xeon that benefits gaming and make a better choice over the i7.
