I was 38 years old when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in October 2014. I weighed 101.8kgs and 5ft 10in.
I had put on a lot of weight but that was due to an under active thyroid brought on by an autoimmune condition called Hashimotos Disease NOT the diabetes.
I am slowly losing weight and when I last weighed myself back
In May I weighed 83kgs.
I just cut out sugar, eat smaller meals and go walking for exercise!! If I can do it anyone can :)

High blood levels of glucose can cause several problems, including frequent urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, weight loss, and blurry vision. However, because type 2 diabetes develops slowly, some people with high blood sugar experience no symptoms at all. How to treat diabetes naturally https://tr.im/Zwl1J
Symptoms of type 1 diabetes:
Increased thirst
Increased urination
Weight loss in spite of increased appetite
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting
Patients with type 1 diabetes usually develop symptoms over a short period of time, and the condition is often diagnosed in an emergency setting.
Symptoms of type 2 diabetes:
Increased thirst
Increased urination
Increased appetite
Fatigue
Blurred vision
Slow-healing infections
Impotence in men
If you think you have diabetes i think you should have a checkup and speak with your doctor just in case.

Age----even at younger age may be at 25...most predominant chances after 35,.
so age has no role to play in it.
weight--yes body weight and central obesity has certain roles but there is nothing like you will be in a particular weight range while get diagnosed with type 2 DM.
Lean metabolites are also susceptible to DM.
Hence type 2 DM or NIDDM Is like an uninvited guest..will come at any time
ofcourse it depended upon certian factors like
Genetic predisposition
Life style.......junk foods
social habits---smoking,alcohol
Central obesity
autoimmune diseases
excessive or unwanted use of certain medicines(eg steroids)
Most important....STRESS.....

"What causes high blood sugar and T2DM in lean people?
Not surprisingly, the causes of T2DM in lean people are similar to the causes of T2DM in the obese. They can be loosely grouped into the following categories:
Genetics
Fatty liver
Inflammation
Autoimmunity
Stress"

40+ yrs old.
BMI = 27 by then.
Higher BMI = higher chance of being DM-2.
BMI = weight / (height * height)
unit in kilogram and metre, respectively.
