My sks is SO HEAVY. Is a mosin nagant rifle heavier or lighter?

Some are a little lighter, some a little heavier. Military rifles are all clunky, and the Soviets never worried about ergonomics. If you want something light, handy and reasonable, you're going to have to shell out bucks for a nice civilian rifle. You can get a nice mountain rifle built by Ultralight Arms for something in the vicinity of $3500, and then you can gripe about the excess recoil from the light rifle.

Fold the bayonet in and that`ll take off 4 pounds. Mosin Nagant is heavier by 3ounces.

Yeah man, those SKS's are like 30-40 LBS, unloaded.
