what the heck is going on with yahoo answers??

At Level 5, you should know how to get to your own YA profile page. Just click your nickname at the TOP LEFT of the page, under "Notifications". That will give you a list of your questions - and answers - and you can access them there. If you are trying to access your questions through Notifications, that may be the problem.

Once you go into your question, you can MOVE it into any category you want to. P&S may simply be a "fall back" category if the keyword program doesn't find a proper match. Which is often the case. Or - somebody at Level 7 may be moving them for some reason. Which does happen, since YA gave Level 7 users the ability to move any question.

You should be able to choose a Best Answer in ANY category. What you can't get in P&S - is simply a Top Contributor badge/crown. If you look in the DISCOVER area of P&S, you can see that there ARE people being given Best Answers there. If you can't get the BA option to show up after the 1 hour minimum, try a different browser, as this may simply be a browser issue. Or, if you are on mobile, switch to Desktop mode, as sometimes mobile doesn't work fully.

First the small computer program decides where to place it based on key words.

In your case it got as far as "What the difference between..." and decided polls. When it does that, you can over ride and move it.

Edit Category

Ever asked a biology question but accidentally chose the health category instead? We’ve made the change to allow you to ask your question and edit the category after it has been posted. There is no time limit to edit your category and you can recategorize your old questions too.

So if you’re not happy with the answers you have received to your question in the Dining Out category and want to see what the foodies in the Food & Drink category could contribute, you can move your question there.

Additionally, our Level 7 users who have contributed to so much to the site for so long now have the ability to recategorize any question that may have fallen into the wrong category.

The other change is that only the person asking can award a best answer to a question, and only after at least an hour has passed, and there is at least one answer.

Choosing a Best Answer

Did you receive an answer to your question that was right on target? Let the answerer and the Answers community know it was helpful by choosing it as "Best Answer."

Choose your question's Best Answer

You'll have the option to choose a "Best Answer" one hour after asking your question.

Find and select My Questions.

Click on the question.

From the answers underneath, find the answer you like best.

Click Choose as Best Answer.

Once you've selected the Best Answer, this selection will be saved.

Under "Rate Best Answer", click the number of stars you’d like to give it.

Under “Comments," feel free to let the answerer know you appreciate the help.

Click Submit.

Success! The Best Answer will move to the top of the answer module.

Yahoo decided a software program based on keywords in your Question knows better than the human person Asking so they let a program decide which Category Questions should be in and automatically places them there.

This Question will go in Yahoo products as you have the word Question in it.

You can change the category if the auto select category is not where you want your Question to be.

Once you submit Click Edit / Edit category...Click All.... find your category and subcategory and submit.

Be aware that Yahoo gave all level 7 users the ability to move any Question to any Category.

Once your Question is submitted is some level 7 users that think having the ability to move Questions anywhere is a new toy to play with.

If you find your question moved.......... You can move it back by clicking Edit / Edit category and moving it back where you want it.

You can get to all your questions by clicking your avatar or your name on the left side under Notifications and open the questions ther.

You don't need a link to the category. Just search for the question or look at your questions list.

Whe I read the leaderboard and someone has 70% + best answers as some do I know something is not right; or 100,000+ answers and not one question I know something is wrong

You wrote your question to the wrong site; try Wikipedia or Wikidictionary for definitive terms.

The new format has messed up a lot of things. Even though I am still here, I don't find this place as enjoyable as I once did.

Yahoo Answers will be no more someday if it gets worse and worse as it transforms itself.
