Building a PC no post and no beeps?

I just started building a PC and I was testing to see if it would beep from the installed speaker without the ram and graphics card installed and it doesn't it is the first boot and all I have installed is a CPU and mobo and power supply in the case on the standoffis but no beeps. Any idea what's wrong? Thanks for all the hep in advanced!

    You're going to need to add the RAM for it to boot.
