The law says no however I discussed this subject just a couple of months ago with a Police Sergant. Fact is if you lived in California prior to the ban being passed you were allowed to keep your magazines (property) i.e.you don't have to get rid of them or surrender them to the government. Now as we all know there are no serial numbers on magazines meaning they (Government) cannot prove when they were made or how long you have owned them, with that being said it still would not be wise to use or display any hi cap magazines while out in public in my former home state of California.

You should probably leave them with friends in NV.
Or, next time you are in NV go to a UPS store and rent a PO Box for a year. Stuff your empty mags into an envelope and pop them inisde the PO Box. Grab them when you return. Should be cheaper than storage place and easier to use than a bank's safe deposit box.

You are going to a lot of trouble just to shoot from a 30 round magazine when you are out of state. Why bother? Besides, you are not benefiting yourself with those manupulations as you are still in possession of an illegal magazine. Again, why bother?

Nope. They are not that stupid. That loophole has been accounted for. You cannot possess >10 round mags or the parts to construct a >10 round mag. Given that 30 round mags are usually $15 or less, it would be cheaper just to buy mags in Nevada and sell them back (or even throw them away) before you leave.

honestly the CA magazine law is not enforceable and is a pointless waste. all you have to do is claim you bought them prior to the year 2000 and there is nothing they can do. i have been out in the desert with 15 round mags. to the shooting range with 15 round mags, etc and there is really no way to enforce it. all my firearms are older guns, and they came with 15rd mags.
