Why does the movie pixels remind me of an episode of Futurama?

Because the world was like a video game in one of the segments from the episode Anthology of Interest II.

Both Futurama and Pixels shamelessly mirepresent classic video games.

Because its basically a rip off of an episode of Futurama. In almost every way.

(The episode with the machine which shows you what life would be like, and Fry asked what would life be like if it were more like a video game)

It reminds me more of the 2010 short film called "Pixels" from which the full-length feature was based.
