When does Stephen King's "The Stand" get better?
So I am a huge Stephen King fan and I hear that "The Stand" is his 'best novel' I got the 1439 page version of it. I read "book one" in it up to page like 460 a few months ago, I remember the characters that have been introduced and what's going on but I wanted to take a break from the book and read other things. I know the book started up really fast paced but then it just got kind of slow and boring. When does the book get more interesting?

Somewhere around the middle.
It took me three tries to read the book...it's sooooo long.
I kept giving up..then finally when I read it..I thought it was pretty epic.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of The Stand. I liked the beginning of it, but as soon as the Randall plot-line started getting introduced I was like, "ugh, really?". I was wanting an Apocalypse novel, not some sort of Heaven vs. Hell battle and the prize is Earth. If you're not into it now, you probably won't get into it. The Stand isn't for everyone, but King is still one of my favourite authors. Just, in my mind, I feel like that's not his best work.

It doesn't.
It is a tedious novel, mostly "borrowed" from other writers. It generally only appeals to people who love King and have never read a post apocalypse novel before.
It is 1,400 pages of tedium.

i loved it, and i have read a ton of apocalypse novels before. the excitement from it comes first from the fall of civilization, which you just read, and then the tension builds again toward the confrontation with randall flagg. i didn't find any of it boring because seeing people's day to day lives after the apocalypse is just as interesting to me. but opinions vary. i think you should stick with it at least until they get to boulder.
