was it appropriate for my doctor to ask me this?

Your first doctors visit and sometimes the next few ask about how many pregnancies you've had and if any ended due to miscarriage or abortion. Someone just pushed about not wanting to explain about there miscarriage but my doctor DID go into my situation. My mother forced me to get an when I was 17 and I still struggle with it so I'd rather be honest about how many times I've been ptegnant i told her she asked which one and I naturally barley could hold myself together answering abortion and she actuality asked why I did get one, it was very clear how upset I was my husband (father of our aborted baby) ended up explaining and Ilet it go , but was iit right of her to ask ? Did she need an explanation? I'm in my twinties now and she mark that this was an incidental pregnancy and it wasn't it was planned, I almost feel judged maybe because we're young she thought it was an accident?

She has to ask because she needs to know if the reason for the abortion was because of a genetic defect or other birth defects. They also need to know if the abortion was because of an ectopic pregnancy. So it's really a standard question that is completely related to your health. She wasn't judging you. She just needed to know the underlying cause of the abortion. The doctor needs to know if the abortion was elective or for medical reasons.

I'm so sorry that happened to you when you were seventeen. : (

Your doctor was trying to get a clear picture of your health history, and was not trying to judge or upset you on purpose. : (

It was appropriate for her to ask about your medical history; it wasn't appropriate for her to comment or ask about why.

She is only asking in order to get a clear picture of your health history, and is not judging you in any way. Just give her the facts (how many weeks, etc.).
