Is the third brake light on a separate circuit? (Benz W210 E-Class)?

Does anyone know if the third brake light is on a separate circuit than the tail light brake lights on a Mercedes Benz W210 E-Class? Both tail lights are out but the third brake light works. The car has no BAS faults or other symptoms of a bad brake light switch, not to mention it was replaced by the Mercedes dealer before I bought the car.

The tail light bulb holders and tail lights themselves have been cleaned and greased with dielectric grease due to known oxidation/connectivity issues on the W210 platform.

I haven't had the chance to hook up a meter to find out what's going on... will do that tonight. Silly German car electronics make me bang my head against the wall at times!

Issue was corrosion related. More cleaning fixed it.
