Now that the TPP gives power to the president to negotiate trade deals, would you rather have Trump or Hillary negotiating for America?

I assume you mean TPA (Trade Promotion Authority). It does not give the President the power to negotiate, he already has that. It guarantees a simple up or down vote with no amendments when the Senate decides whether to ratify the agreement.

The US has an unusual system in that without TPA, any agreement entered into could be modified by congress as part of ratification. This puts other nations into a bind wherein after a long a difficult negotiation, they ahve to negotiate again, with congress. Nobody would do that.

So in order to get trade deals done, and it is important that we do so since they benefit us more than anyone because the lower foreign tariffs and barriers MORE than they lower ours (since ours are already low), we must give foreign governments assurance that we won't modify the deal after it's been agreed to. Thus, TPA has been given to almost every modern president.

The only reason it lapsed is because congressional Democrats beholden to trade unions refused to give it to their own president. But every Democratic president favors free trade. Obama hated it as a Senator, but now is negotiating the two largest trade deals since NAFTA and signed the two smaller trade deals Bush negotiated...eventually. Clinton signed NAFTA and was a huge proponent of free trade. Kennedy, Carter, LBJ too.

This happens because once you are President, you get surrounded by advisors. And while economists come in alot of stripes and don't agree on much, on of the things just about every economist agrees on is that free trade is good, and benefits the economy as a whole, even is a specific special interest may be hurt.

The U.S. Constitution has always given power to the President (the Administrative level of our three-branch government) to negotiate trade deals. This power was intact and accepted even by Republicans until, of course, we had a person of color in the White House.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, as Secretary of State, was able to convince far-away governments to open their markets to American-made goods, thus playing a crucial role in getting the thirteen new trading partners to come to the trading table. Some of these nations' leaders were skeptical because of the GOP-caused FINANCIAL SYSTEM MELTDOWN that bankrupted most of Europe and because of the aggression and illegality of the 2003 ILLEGAL invasion of Iraq, among other things, and Secretary Clinton was able to work with the Obama administration and these skeptical foreign leaders, including far-off Myammar (not visited by any American official since 1955), to put the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal together with guarantees for protecting U.S. labor.

Trump, by contrast, is a crude, rude, brutish narcissistic bully who cannot stand to be criticized and goes vindictive immediately if someone dares to question him on anything.

Quite obviously, Hillary Clinton is the wise choice.

I would, by a thousand times, prefer to have Hillary Clinton negotiating those trade deals.

So, the whole e-mailgate thing that violates federal law doesn't mean anything to you. She can't even follow the laws she was entrusted with!

And let's not forget the new 1,300 foreign donors to her charity that slipped her mind while she was secretary of state. No "quid pro quo" there eh????

    You liberal are such hypocrites!!!

I would rather have BERNIE SANDERS. He will rip up the TPP to shreds.
