Dogs paw pad cracks and comes off?
My dogs paw pads have recently started to crack and fall off. On one of her toes (not the entire paw) the whole pad has come off. She licks it a lot. A few weeks ago she had a similar problem except in between her toes it was red, peeling, and swollen. We were given HexaChlor-K wipes for that, should we continue using it for the pads. She now has a sore inbetween her toes. Or should I go to the vet.

Musher's Secret or Bag Balm should work - but dog's paws should be a little callused and rough, they don't wear shoes so the feet need to be a little tough to walk on concrete and dirt and rocks and what not. They start softer as puppies because the calluses haven't built up. If they were uncomfortable she would be acting like they are painful on your walks, and she'd probably be over grooming or over licking, if she is a lighter colored dog you may notice the fur around the paws turning red from the saliva. If they are cracked and dry, not just rough, you may want to get something to apply. And the previous posters advice about wiping the feet after they go out to remove the salt is a great one. If you are really concerned I would monitor the situation and ask at the next vet visit.
