Mormons Does the revealing of a magic rock by the organization place you between a rock and a hard place?

Update:

punt intended How do you explain that your founder, joe smith found this golden book and magic rocks in his back yard? How do you explaint that the golden book has never been found and that your church just showed us a picture of a rock that they claim joe used to translate this golden book?

It does for more than some. I've recently heard in ex-mormon chat rooms that many have decided to walk away from the LDS because they are tired of being deceived by mormon leaders, yet again. This is the rock that the LDS has repeatedly claimed Smith "didn't" use to translate his alleged "plates" of the BOM, despite Smith, his wife, and his cronies clearly claiming he DID use it along with his hat. They have denied Smith was ever jailed for using it to find "buried treasure", too*. Yet now? They produce it in pictures. It's very existence literally screams that Smith was once indeed arrested in NY for being a huckster.

    a. This means.... that official NY court record showing our prophet accused of being a con-man... is GENUINE?!! Gasp!

    b. This means.... Harris was right when he said he witnessed** Smith using his seer stone in his hat to translate the BOM "plates"?? And David Whitmer***, one of the three witnesses as well now wasn't lying either? Should we also believe Smith when he, too, claimed to have used this stone to translate?? But... but... the church has always denied this was true!?

    c. And if we have to believe Harris and Whitmer saw the "plates" as two of the three witnesses, then why has the church always denied that these men said they saw Smith.... translating with this stone??

    d. So.... Why didn't Smith just use the divine Urim & Thumim God gave him, then??? Oh, my head!

Imagine that. Mormons who are offended by their profit using patently occultist practices to "translate" what he claimed was "God's Word". Never thought I would live to see this day come!

Keep up the good work, LDS, in being your own worst enemy!

Source(s): *When first discovered, the LDS rejected the authenticity of the NY court record showing Smith being jailed as a con-man. When proven authentic, they then denied he was "proven guilty", despite Smith doing exactly as the court dictated, to either leave the area immediately or rot in jail. He ran. As usual. **Comprehensive History of the Church 1:129. ***An Address to All Believers in Christ, pg. 12.

Didn't you say at one time that you were Mormon? Even if you weren't, someone as critical of the church as you are should at least know these basics about church history.

Oh, wait, sorry, I forgot - you are just trolling Mormons again. What was I thinking....

The answer is that we don't have to explain. Believe it or don't believe it.

They are a rocky religion, anyway. That's why they went to the Rocky Mountains.
