Bernie Sanders claims to be a democratic socialist?

Does the fact that Bernie Sanders is a self proclaimed socialist, and has a lot of support in his presidential run mean that americans are becoming more openly socialist, kind of like when gays came out of the closet?

Democrats are Socialists to the Core.

They have been for decades but finally they are admitting they hate America and Liberty, not to mention Constitutional Rights.

They seek to dominate any to be dominated by their elected Despots. Tyranny by Big Government is their goal.

No, it means Americans like him representing the common man versus the rest of the corporate candidates working for Wall St. He may be a socialist at heart but he does not want to change the U.S. financial structure, he cant. And most president once in office, succumb to the Pentagon and Wall Street interests like Obama did.

Sadly I think many are out of necessity. A lot of good people sliding down the economic ladder from middle class to lower class. When the elite rich drag up the ladder of success behind them it limits opportunity. With less opportunity more people need public assistance. Capitalism on steroids leads into socialism. It will be bad for ALL classes if it happens!

If you don't use the word "socialist", but tell Americans about socialism, the vast majority say they'd prefer to live under that economic system that American capitalism. The baby-boom generation was conditioned to be afraid of the words "socialist" and "communist", without real knowledge of what they were.

No. I think it means people would rather have a socialist bust into all the banks and reallocate profits. Then get some lame promise that people eventually will pay you back.

The speeches he gives aren't primarily socialist...they are "big banks are evil" and "the mortgage companies took advantage of the little guy".

That is stuff that resonates with people way outside the socialist camp.

Why did you ignore the first of the two words in his self-description? It matters.
