Do you think a 4th branch of the federal government, dedicated to continuously investigating the other three?
I'd call it the "Investigatory Branch", and it would subject every elected and appointed member of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches to constant investigation on everything they do in their public and certain aspects of their personal lives. We clearly need this, whether you believe all the made up Obama and Clinton scandals, or the very real Bush and Trump scandals.
It would be set up to give the other branches as little influence as possible. The nominees would be selected from a national pool of sworn apolitical and nonpartisan law enforcement professionals, vetted by INTERPOL. The members would be banned from having any membership or involvement with political parties beyond voting in primaries and elections. They would not be political appointees, but be career civil servants.
If the Investigatory Branch found wrongdoing, they'd be required to publish their findings within 96 hours, and to issue recommendations to either congress or the Supreme Court on whether the official being investigated should be removed from office or charged with a crime. They would also have the authority to remove criminals from the higher levels government.
This branch would have no operational secrecy, and be required to publish every internal document without redaction within a year. In other words, everyone else would watch the watchers.

My family is going to the Azores next year, and I'm planning on bringing a drone. Is that legal?
Portugal3 years agoMy Insurance company lost my car. Anyone have any idea how to find it?
I was in a minor accident on Friday, and my car was left undriveable due to the driver side front wheel being strut being broken. I'll give you the cliff notes of what happened.
(1) Insurance company dispatched a tow truck, which got there before the police.
(2) Other driver asked us to stay and wait for police.
(3) Tow truck had to leave on another call, so insurance company dispatched another tow company.
(4) Insurance company said it as okay to leave the car on the side of the road for the tow truck to pick up later.
(5) Robo-calls from insurance company said the car had been picked up, did not say the name of the tow company, but did give me the phone number.
(6) I called the phone number given by the robo-call, and was told that they had picked up the car.
(7) I called the shop the car was supposed to be delivered to on Tuesday, they said they got all the paperwork from the insurance company, but no car.
(8) I called the second tow company dispatched, and they said that not only had they not picked up my car, but my call to them on Friday had been redirected to my insurance company.
(9) I called my insurance company, and they don't know what happened to my car.
(10) Neither tow company says they towed it. My car is not where it was left. in retrospect I would not have left it alone. My mom (whom I live with, free rent FTW) and the insurance company said was okay.
(11) Insurance company is already working with the police, or so they say.
Any ideas?
Other - Cars & Transportation4 years agoHow bad do you think the damage to my car is? Knowledgeable people only please.?
I got in a car accident today and my 2009 Honda Element EX (which I love more than most of my immediate family) took some damage. Neither car was moving faster than 10 mph. The road was wet, and i skidded through a stop sign. The other car did not have a stop sign, breaked, and hit me right on the driver side front wheel. I was able to get my car over to the shoulder, but it made a terrible noise.
There was no obvious damage to my car, but a closer look revealed that the driver side front wheel was sitting at an angle. I looked closer and saw that the wheel was pretty much leaning against the breaks. Attached are some picture. The car was moved off the street and will arrive at a body shop on monday.

All I can find are old tourism infomercials.

I've passed it a few times, while bored. I do weird things when I'm bored.
Politics4 years agoHow much are you willing to sacrifice so the 400 wealthiest families in America can get richer?
Because that is all TrumpCare does. Socialism for the rich. Poor and middle class people will either lose their healthcare, or pay at least $1500 more for it a year.
6 AnswersPolitics4 years agoConservatives: How exited are you that Trump is going to let corporations save money by poisoning your child?!?
Because that what getting the Clean Water Rule and EPA will amount to.
11 AnswersPolitics4 years agoWhat do you think of this idea to replace all current award shows?
I hate award shows. Watching a bunch of overpaid clowns give other overpaid clowns awards for being good overpaid clowns is a complete waste of time. These people are already paid far more than they actually contribute to society, but they also need extra recognition. I also can't keep the different award show straight.
So I propose that we combine every single award show for music, TV, film, and whatever else into a single award show with no speeches, musical performances or red carpet. Simply have all the recipients line up in order of the award they're getting, have the award and recipient read out, the recipient walk on stage and accept their award and a handshake, and then get off the stage. Like a high school graduation.
And instead of a golden man, angel with sharp wings, a golden spherical bludgeon, or whatever all the other awards look like, the awards will all be gold painting plastic statues of a clown on a unicycle holding two cartoon style bags of money.
And this award show will only be broadcast on the internet, instead of wasting airtime.

1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture4 years agoSo conservatives, all of that "LOCK HER UP" stuff during the campaign was sarcastic, right?

From the highly reputable and not failing New York Times "Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence". Their source is the National Security Agency!

Because if Trump abolishes the EPA, we won't have either of those anymore.

6 AnswersPolitics4 years agoIf Trump really believes that 3 to 5 million people voted illegally, then why doesn't he order an investigation to prove it?
I know I'll regret asking this, but someone has to. All he has to do is order a hand recount.

The Constitution of the Russian Federation guarantees citizens free healthcare. Why can't America be like Russia?
11 AnswersPolitics4 years agoDo conservatives understand that programs like public education, medicare, and social security are what makes America a first world nation?
And those are programs Trump is going to kill. Without a social safety net, America will not be first world anymore.
10 AnswersPolitics4 years agoIs anyone is the conservative movement saying "A vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Hillary Clinton!"?
I'm a progressive, and I REALLY don't want to vote for Hillary. I will if I have to, but as I live in a state that hasn't gone red since Nixon, I don't have to. Hillary's supporters in the establishment press are saying that "a vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Donald Trump", and using fear politics to try to get people to vote for Hillary. Is anyone on the right doing that to Gary Johnson?
