Nobody can guess the mind of Trump. I think he enjoyed threatening her. I don't think he has enough attention and energy to shepherd a formal investigation for several years and wait out a possible conviction, which most likely would never occur since there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing according to the FBI.

Sessions could open up the Hillary file and take a gander to see if there is enough to indict her.

At least then we would have an honest, uncorrupted AG working for the people.
