How can I start a conversation about periods with my mom?

So I need to talk to my mom about using tampons and all that jazz.. I don t know how to start the conversation and not make it awkward??

    You can talk to your mom when she's not busy or stressed. Just say, "Hey mom, can I talk to you about something personal?" Or if you know it will be too awkward, write her a note and put it somewhere she will see it or write her an email. If you decide to write her a note or email, be sure to include that it was personal so you didn't want to bring it up in person. I would start with pads first, then switch to tampons bc tampons have some health risks. Ask to look at the pad section when you go to the store.

    It is not awkward! your mother is having periods too,so just say, mum i want to talk to you about periods! what is awkward about that? god, i was a teen in the 60's, i spoke to my mother about everything,when my dad was in the room too, it is a normal part of a woman's life, get a grip.

    Your mum has probably been in the same situation when she was young talking to her own mum, be upfront about it. What's the worst that could happen ?
