Should Conservatives stop claiming to be free-market individualist?

If Trump wins the nomination and anyone other than Sanders wins for the other side, I'm voting Democratic. At least Republicans will fight against the Democrat if they try to institute single payer universal healthcare, repeal NAFTA, etc. If we can't have solid conservative government, we should at least have a solid conservative opposition.

I see Donald Trump as an American Caesar - or, at the very least, as an American Sulla or Marius. He's a rich rabble-rouser who panders to the prejudices of the working classes as a way of getting power. He's a repulsive specimen but not an especially world-changing character. He's a sign of the decline of our Republic. By 45 BC neither the Optimates nor the Populares - nor even the Libertadores of Brutus and Cassius - were particularly interested in traditional Roman virtue. Cato was dead at Utica. The rest were only concerned about who got what part of the rank and rotting corpse of the Republic.

Every since Clinton and NAFTA and "free trade" all the American jobs have gone oversees and now all of our consumer goods are cheap plastic **** from China that breaks in a year. Maybe we should start punishing companies for not creating jobs in America, and incentivize people to buy American by putting tariffs on imports.

Need to get rid of unconstitutional gov programs and agencies, like Dept of Ed, EPA etc. so we can compete on a "level playing field", as pols like to call it.

People like Trump are not free market individualists. They are corporatists and favor rule by oligarchs, croney capitalists, and robber barons.

Adam Smith hated big corporations, and Hitler, even though he used them, wasn't all that fond of them either.

You can't have people self selecting for immigration when you have a huge welfare state like we do.
