How long does 1 Brita water filter last?
A lot of people say it only lasts one month, but i've seen websites stating it lasts 140L, please help me clear this up to know which is cheaper, bottles or Brita.

When we first got our pitcher, our filter was fine for about 5 months (or so the reader on the pitcher said). Now it blinks red about once a month, but we have been told that as long as you keep the filter submerged in water, the filter lasts longer. The first 5 months, we were really good about keeping the pitcher full and the filter submerged. Now, the pitcher is empty half the time! If it's not submerged it can dry out and have to be replaced more often, so I've been told by my mother. I'm a bit fan of Brita, honestly.
