Why is it that people who pop out a kid think they've suddenly gained some insight into child rearing? You're making it up as you go along, just like your parents did. Don't get all high and mighty.

It is their right just as it is your right to give opinions and it doesn't mean they don't have experience and can't offer good sound advice.
