What will happen in a psych unit if someone threatens self harm by biting their own tongue?

1 to 1 observations this means having someone watching you as you change your clothes while you use the toilet and while you eat your meals. A person will be assigned to your 1 to 1 care they will support you when you are awake and watch you while you sleep. In a mental health hospital if you are a risk to yourself then you can have your clothing taken away in fear of using that to harm yourself you could also lose phone chargers as it is a ligature risk. They actually have the legal right to do this as for biting your tongue no one will actively stop this you will be treated on site to the best of the nurse and doctors ability however you are still able to make your own choices in regards to self harm in this way but at some point you will have to take responsibility for your actions at some point and even if you bite your tongue off you will be taken to A&E with staff and treated under anaesthetic and sent straight back to the hospital because if you are under section until you are better than you are you are going nowhere. If you are an informal patient you can leave at any time as long as you do not state that you are going to kill yourself

And they DO have restraints..... They have leather straps that can be attached to any gurney or hospital bed and they also have a room with a bed that has restraints if you need to be separated from the other patients..... Been there, done that, got a door prize.... Start trouble and 4 6'5", 350 lb interns like materialize out of the wall and surround you..... First they send you to your room and one of the interns takes a seat in your doorway. Continue making trouble and they all come back, sit on you while you get a big *** injection of sleepy liquid, then they carry you to the sleepy room and strap you down until you wake and agree to cooperate.....
