Do people from cities, the north, and west listen to country music?
It's not my favorite genre, but I'm from SC so it's everywhere here. I know more country songs than I care to, but that's beside the point.
Are there people living in cities like NYC or LA that like country music? Even if they've never been to the south or have lived in rural regions? I'm just wondering if that's a thing.

"Do people from cities, the north, and west listen to country music?"
es there are people from the northern states that like Country and Western music. Country and Western artists have come from all over the U.S. From Maine to California. In fact one sound comes from Bakersfield California, known as the Bakersfield Sound, and was associated with Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, known as the Bakersfield sound. Nearly if, not every state in the lower fourty eight, has produced at least one artist, who has charted a hit on the Country and Western charts. That doesn't count artists like Hank Snow, and Ann Murray who originated from Canada.
Edit point:
Country and Western music has been popular through out the U.S. for well over sixty years now. I was close enough, to hear both Charlie Pride, and Kenny Rogers who were sold out, at a very large fair in California, in 1979, both of who had sold out months in advance. I saw Donna Fargo, and Mel Tillis at the Arizona state fair in 1977. That's been nearly fourty years ago now. That doesn't include other artists, I've met like Barbara Mandrell, 1979 Jim Ed Brown, and Helen Cornelius in Iowa, in 1978.

Of course. A lot of country music actually originated in the west, and has been influenced by Mexican country music, too.

It's actually a big genre now, but blame that on the pop infusion. It was big in the North before that as well though, at least in my area. I can't speak for the West though.

there is definitely a wide demographic of people who enjoy country music, regardless of whether or not have been to the places where it originated. that's like saying, do people outside of urban environments enjoy listening to rap? yes. all kinds of people like all kinds of music! that's why it's such an amazing thing.
