How do I tell a spanish speaking person the price of something?

I am currently working a second job as a cashier. I am somewhat of an overachiever and I like to be able to speak as much spanish as I can to communicate with my customers. I can interact somewhat by saying things like how are you, have a nice day, is this going to be everything, etc. They really seem to appreciate that I make an effort. I have a problem with the pricing though. All I can find is how to say while dollar ammounts or how to say prices in Mexican currency. How would I say $25.42 for instance? I know how to say numbers already. Would it be veinticinco dollars con cuarenta y dos cents or centavos? I have just been saying the price in English but I have noticed my customers having to look at the screen to figure out what the amount is, which is fine but why not go the extra mile and improve myself?

$25.42 is "Veinticinco dólares y cuarenta y dos centavos". If you want to say specifically, "It costs $25.42", that is "Cuesta veinticinco dólares y cuarenta y dos centavos".
