    multiply top and bottom by [ √x + √a ] ; top and bottom by [ √ (16 + h ) + 4 ]...do the algebra , take the limit

    limit x->a (x - a)/[sqrt(x) - sqrt(a)]

    (x - a)/[sqrt(x) - sqrt(a)]

    (x - a)*[sqrt(x) + sqrt(a)]/{[sqrt(x) - sqrt(a)]*[sqrt(x) + sqrt(a)]}

    (x - a)*[sqrt(x) + sqrt(a)]/(x - a)

    limit x->a sqrt(x) + sqrt(a) = 2sqrt(a)

    limit h->0 [sqrt(16 + h) - 4]/h plug in and get 0/0 which is great as you

    (d/dh sqrt(16 + h) - 4)/(d/dh h) = 1/[2*sqrt(h + 16)] = 1/8
