In any case there's many different types of mechanics, Personally I'm a equipment mechanic, which is just the title given me by the county government I work for, Meaning I can diagnose and repair anything from large diesel construction equipment used by the road department to a weed eater used by the grounds department, not to mention anything used by law enforcement or emergency services, Although I'm mostly on the heavy equipment repair and welding fabrication side of things, as we also employ some world class Ford and GM master techs for the squad cars and such, In other words we're a pretty diverse bunch,
Basically all you'll see at a golf course would be a small utility tractor most likely diesel powered and a few commercial riding mowers along with your other basic powered landscaping tools, Then there's the golf carts of course,
Generally the mechanics there are nothing more than service techs, basically changing oil and sharpening blades and such, when the equipment breaks down unless minor its usually repaired by an outside vender, usually the dealership they bought the equipment from in most cases, I cut my teeth at a large dealership that sold construction/agricultural tractors along with turf equipment, and believe it or not golf carts, and take my word for it the mowers a golf course uses aint your daddy's mower, as there's some pretty advanced fluid power/hydraulics going on there, same would apply to there utility tractor, So if they had a mechanic that could repair them he'd most likely be working somewhere else that paid a lot more, As the industry at the moment is begging for mechanics of this type, we're a dying breed so to say,
However a job at a golf course doing such could be a stepping stone to bigger and better things if mechanically inclined, as it may look good on a resume, Although your past rap sheet will make a background check a bit difficult
